Magnetic Flow Meters

Among the different types of flow meters available, electromagnetic flow meters, or mag meters, stand out for their precision, reliability, and applicability in diverse settings. Since their invention in the 1950s, electromagnetic flow meters have become an industry standard for measuring the  of conductive liquids. This technology’s non-intrusive nature, lack of moving parts, and broad compatibility with various liquid types make it a preferred choice in water treatment, chemical processing, food and beverage,  and other industries.

Vortex Flow Meters

A vortex flow meter is a type of flow measurement instrument that measures the volumetric flow rate of fluids, such as liquids, gases, and steam, by detecting vortices shed from a bluff body inserted into the flow stream. The operation of a vortex flow meter is based on the phenomenon known as the von Kármán effect. When a fluid flows past a bluff body—a non-streamlined object—vortices are generated alternately on either side of the body. These vortices form a repeating pattern known as a Kármán vortex street. The frequency at which these vortices are shed is directly proportional to the velocity of the fluid flow.

Turbine Flow Meters

Turbine flow meters operate by detecting the velocity of fluid passing through a pipe, which causes a turbine or rotor within the flow tube to spin. The speed of the rotor’s rotation, which is directly proportional to the fluid’s flow rate, is measured by sensors (magnetic or optical) placed outside the tube. These sensors generate electrical pulses corresponding to the rotor’s revolutions, which are then converted into a readable flow rate by a flow transmitter

Coriolis Flow Meters

A Coriolis flow meter is a highly accurate flow measurement device that measures the mass flow rate of a fluid directly, as opposed to measuring its volumetric flow rate. Unlike traditional flow meters, Coriolis meters do not rely on the fluid’s velocity or volumetric measurement; instead, they operate based on the principles of the Coriolis effect. This effect allows the Coriolis meter to measure the mass flow directly, making it especially useful in applications where density, viscosity, and temperature changes can impact measurement accuracy.
